Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry

Our Youth Ministry at Christ the Servant is for teenagers in 7th-12 grade. Our Youth Ministry is led by Stephanie Howard.
Our youth meet weekly for Sunday school at 10:45 in the youth room in our education building. Our youth also participate in our annual Service Saturday, ELCA Youth events, CTSLC youth night out, mission trips, etc. Our Youth Ministry strives to be a ministry of support and encouragement for our teenagers and their families. Our goal at Christ the Servant is to equip our teens with a firm foundation to help them make the best decisions for themselves as they gain independence, to help them both in their daily life and in their walk with God.
The focus of our Youth Ministry is to teach our students how to depend on their faith, how to serve others, how to build a community for themselves and fellowship to deepen relationships .  Our church body at Christ the Servant encourages our youth to use their gifts at church by serving, encourages our youth to forge connections, and also encourages our youth to use their gifts outside of church by helping their community to embrace their journey of faith

Sunday School

Our youth, grades 7-12, meet for Sunday School weekly at 10:45 in the youth room in the Education Building. Our youth start with having food and fellowship, then get into their weekly discussion and study. Our teachers dedicate time preparing for their class weekly, and praying for each of their youth. Our youth Sunday school program runs from September to May each year. We would love to have your teenager join us!

Confirmation class is a Christian education program for our 7th and 8th graders to build a strong foundation for a strong future.
In Confirmation class, our youth learn about Luther's Small Catechism, The Lord's Prayer,  The Apostle's Creed and the Ten Commandments.  Our youth, and their parents also study the Old and New Testaments. Along with the weekly class, our youth have several special projects to complete their Confirmation. Our youth are confirmed at a Sunday worship service. Our Confirmation class is on Sunday mornings at 10:45-this class is for both youth and their parents.

Mission Trips

Every other year, our Youth Ministry takes our youth on an out-of-state mission trip. This week long mission trip teaches our youth how to broaden their perspective, challenges their comfort zone, helps them to take ownership and initiative with their community, think of and serve others first, builds unity within our youth group, and helps our teenagers see what they are capable of. Our youth can make a huge difference in their community-they need the confidence and determination to do so.
Our next mission trip is summer 2019! Youth in 7th-12th grade are welcome to attend.

Service Saturday

Service Saturday is a day, each fall, our youth and volunteers take to serve the elderly in our church. Our youth group selects two widows, or elderly couples to serve each fall. We mow lawns, plant flowers, trim hedges, help organize garages, move furniture, paint, etc. Our youth love serving! This project also gives and opportunity for our youth to bond with the elder members of our church-both parties enjoy this annual project. Our youth enjoy a time of fellowship after serving. Our next Service Saturday is September 15th.

Youth Bible Study

Our youth will begin a weekly Bible study in August 2018. More information coming soon!!

Luther League

Luther League is for youth and young adults, 7th grade through graduation. The Luther League began with a society founded by delegates of six Lutheran churches in New York City in 1888. Through the years, the term Luther League has died off, but our youth take pride in participating in an old Lutheran tradition.
At Christ the Servant, youth are elected each year on an executive committee; President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The Luther League plans service projects and activities to provide fellowship and faith building.  The Luther League participates in events such as roadway clean-ups, volunteering at local food pantry, serving elderly church members through our Service Saturday program, and much more! Our goal within Luther League at Christ the Servant, is to give our youth a voice and guidance on service, and to foster loyalty to the church.
